Language Ability to Predict Subtypes of Speech Sound Disorder

چکیده
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there are differences in vocabulary, grammar, pragmatics, and early literacy skills according subgroups speech sound disorders (SSDs). Additionally, attempted examine language ability could predict the subtype SSDs suggested by Dodd’s model for differential diagnosis. Methods: Sixty-two children with aged 3-9 years were classified into groups articulation (AD), phonological delays (PD), consistent/inconsistent (CPD/IPD). Vocabulary grammar evaluated, pragmatics was evaluated based on parental reports. Results: Children exhibited significant receptive/expressive reading performance; but no found writing. In general, AD showed significantly better performance than within other SSD subgroups, IPD lowest performance. This that best predictor subtypes most vulnerable SSDs. Conclusion: investigating examining all aspects - suggests reception expression should be clinical field.

Gene x Environment interactions in speech sound disorder predict language and preliteracy outcomes.
Few studies have investigated the role of gene x environment interactions (G x E) in speech, language, and literacy disorders. Currently, there are two theoretical models, the diathesis-stress model and the bioecological model, that make opposite predictions about the expected direction of G x E, because environmental risk factors may either strengthen or weaken the effect of genes on phenotype...
متن کاملLinkage of speech sound disorder to reading disability loci.
BACKGROUND Speech sound disorder (SSD) is a common childhood disorder characterized by developmentally inappropriate errors in speech production that greatly reduce intelligibility. SSD has been found to be associated with later reading disability (RD), and there is also evidence for both a cognitive and etiological overlap between the two disorders. The present study tested whether SSD is link...
متن کاملPhonetic variability in residual speech sound disorders: Exploration of subtypes.
PURPOSE: To explore whether subgroups of children with residual speech sound disorders (R-SSDs) can be identified through multiple measures of token-to-token phonetic variability. METHOD: Children with R-SSDs were recorded during a rapid multisyllabic picture naming task and an oral diadochokinetic task. Transcription-based and acoustic measures of token-to-token variability were derived. Arti...

The Multi-layered Speech/Sound Synthesis Control Language (MSCL) proposed herein facilitates the synthesizing of several speech modes such as nuance, mental state and emotion, and allows speech to be synchronized to other media easily. MSCL is a multi-layered linguistic system and encompasses three layers: and semantic level layer (The S-layer), interpretation level layer (The I-layer), and par...
